An accomplished New York City drumset player and percussionist, Matt Smallcomb is in demand as a player, educator and studio musician. Currently, a member of a Philadelphia based hip-hop group called The Collective, Matt has had the chance to open for such acts as: Afro Man, All 4 One, Arrested Development, Bone Thugs & Harmony, Busta Rhymes, Ja-Rule, Jurassic 5, Naughty by Nature, O-Town., The Roots, The Wailers and has appeared on television broadcasts for CN8 Philadelphia, Wilkes University and WVIA's Homegrown Music Series. As a percussionist Matt freelances with various regional orchestras in the New York City area including The One World Symphony, Westfield Symphony, New Amsterdam Symphony, and The New England Symphonic Ensemble, performing at such venues as Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and Philadelphia's Verizon Hall. Matt recently worked with conductors Johanne Faletta, Paul Nadler, David Hayes, Constantine Kitsopolous, and Bright Shang. Matt is also busy commissioning new percussion works with composers Seth Rozanoff, and David Loeb which he plans to record and release in the spring of 2006.Matt has studied percussion with teachers Bob Nowak, Marko Marcinko, Barry Centanni, Michael Werner, and James Preiss. Matt Smallcomb holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pa and a Master's Degree in Music Performance from The Mannes College of Music in New York City. Matt serves on the percussion faculty for the Wilkes University Conservatory in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Matt is endorsed by The Noble & Cooley Drum Company. |
